Three men accused of malicious damage to property, theft, assault and conspiracy to commit a felony have been charged before an Eldoret court and granted bond of Sh200,000 each or an alternative cash bail of Sh150,000.
Samson Kariga, Patrick Zinga and Isaac Museve appeared before Resident Magistrate Naima Chelagat and denied all four charges.
The three were escorted to Eldoret GK Remand Prison after failing to raise the bond or cash bail set by the court.
“I have entered a plea of not guilty to the four counts facing you, and I will release each accused on a personal bond of Sh200,000 with one surety of a similar amount or an alternative cash bail of Sh150,000,” Chelagat ruled.
In the first count, the prosecution alleges that on July 29 and 30, 2026, at Songoliet area in Kapseret Sub-county, Uasin Gishu County, the three, jointly with others not before the court, unlawfully damaged three semi-permanent houses and household property valued at Sh400,000 belonging to Jimmy Muchiri and his son, Nathan Mureithi.
In the second count, the accused are alleged to have assaulted Muchiri on July 30, 2026, at Songoliet, causing him actual bodily harm.
They also face a theft charge over the alleged loss of a 32-inch television set, a Vetron woofer, an inverter, a solar battery, mobile phones, a gas cylinder, foodstuffs and other household goods valued at Sh350,000.
The items are said to have belonged to Muchiri and his son.
In the fourth count, the prosecution alleges that between July 29 and 30, 2026, at Huruma Estate in Eldoret City and Songoliet in Kapseret Sub-county, the three conspired with others to commit the felonies of malicious damage to property and theft from the complainants’ homestead.
The prosecution has lined up seven witnesses, including the two complainants and the investigating officer, to testify against the accused.
The court was told that the suspects had already been supplied with copies of the charge sheet and witness statements the prosecution intends to rely on during the trial.
Chelagat scheduled the hearing for October 6, 2026.
